The challenge
Last-mile is brutal. A route planned at 6am is wrong by 9. ClearRoute's manual planning was good but static — drivers had to improvise once they hit traffic, and the dispatch desk was firefighting all day.
Customer expectations were also rising — people want a 20-minute ETA window, not "between 9 and 5."
"The drivers love it. The customers see earlier ETAs. The depot manager sleeps at night. We could not have built this ourselves."
What we did
- Live re-planning — routes update every 15 minutes against traffic, weather and weight.
- Driver app — clear next-stop guidance, no fiddly forms.
- Customer ETAs — accurate to within 20 minutes, pushed to customers automatically.
- Depot console — dispatcher sees the whole fleet, can override any AI decision instantly.
The outcome
Drops-per-day up 34%. ETAs landing in a 19-minute window. WISMO calls cut in half. ClearRoute is rolling out to its remaining depots through 2026.
