NexaFlow now auto-routes 94% of shipments. The AI considers traffic, weather, customer windows and driver hours together — saving an average 47 minutes per route and £412k of fuel a year.
The challenge
NexaFlow's dispatchers were brilliant — and a bottleneck. Every route was hand-planned. Every disruption was a phone call. Growth meant more dispatchers, which meant slower onboarding, which capped growth.
They needed routing the dispatchers could trust as a peer, not a black box.
"We have visibility we never had before — and the routes the AI picks are routes our best dispatchers wish they'd thought of."
What we did
- Live optimiser — re-runs route plans every 15 minutes against current conditions.
- Driver-aware — respects driver hours, vehicle type and depot windows.
- Dispatcher console — recommendations come with the reasoning — accept, edit or override.
- Carbon reporting — fuel and emissions tracked per route, per quarter.
The outcome
Dispatchers became route reviewers, not planners. NexaFlow scaled headcount-flat, customers noticed earlier ETAs, and the fuel saving paid for the project inside a quarter.
